Start here#
| Resource | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Study guide for Exam GH-300 | The single most important page. The official skills outline — exact domains, weightings and subskills. It also carries a change log showing what was added or removed in the latest revision |
| GitHub Copilot certification page | Exam overview, languages, and the link to schedule through Pearson VUE |
| Free official practice assessment | Free, unlimited, exam-style questions with explanations, weighted like the real thing. Take it early to find your gaps, then again before booking |
Check the skills outline yourself before you book
The official outline is the only source guaranteed to be current, and it carries a change log showing exactly what was revised and when. Read it directly alongside any summary, including this one.
Training#
| Resource | Format |
|---|---|
| GH-300T00-A: GitHub Copilot | Official instructor-led course mapped to the exam objectives |
| Peter De Tender’s GH-300 series | Free YouTube video course walking through the exam objectives — genuinely good, and the format suits people who’d rather watch than read |
| GitHub Copilot documentation | The authoritative source for product behavior. When a study guide and the docs disagree, the docs win |
Documentation worth reading end to end#
These are the doc sections that map most directly onto exam domains.
| Section | Maps to |
|---|---|
| Get started and Plans | Domain 2 |
| Concepts | Domains 2, 3, 4, 6 |
| How-tos | Domains 2, 5, 6 |
| Reference | Domains 2 and 4 — chat cheat sheet, keyboard shortcuts, supported models |
| Responsible use | Domain 1 |
| Copilot Trust Center | Domains 1, 3 and 6 |
Booking, renewal, and policies#
| Resource | Detail |
|---|---|
| GitHub certification overview | GitHub’s own certification program pages |
| Register for GH-300 | Exam registration |
| Microsoft certification renewal | GH-300 expires annually. Renewal is free, unproctored and open-book on Microsoft Learn; the window opens six months before expiry |

| Exam scoring and score reports | Scaled 1–1000, with 700 required to pass |
| Exam FAQ | General exam logistics, ID requirements, and accommodations |
On pricing
Microsoft states that the price is "based on the country or region in which the exam is proctored". You'll see the figure for your region during the Pearson VUE scheduling flow.
Choosing study material#
GitHub ships changes to Copilot frequently, and study material ages quickly as a result. Two habits will keep your revision current:
Check any surprising claim against docs.github.com before you commit it to memory.
Treat the official skills outline as the contract. If a topic isn't in it, it isn't on the exam.
