AI-901 Study Hub

A study hub for AI-901: Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals, the exam for the Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals certification. AI-901 replaced AI-900 on June 30, 2026, and it is far more hands-on: more than half of the exam is about building AI solutions with Microsoft Foundry. This hub is organized around the two official exam domains, because that is how the exam is scored.

Built from official Microsoft sources. Domains, weightings, and skills come from the Microsoft Learn study guide. Training and exercises come from the official AI-901T00 course. Every exam simulator question is original and has been fact-checked against current Microsoft Learn documentation.

What Microsoft expects you to know

The audience profile describes a candidate at the beginning of a career in AI solution development, with conceptual knowledge of AI solutions in Azure and the foundational technical skills to work with them. It also asks for knowledge of Python syntax and programming techniques and familiarity with Azure resources. Code in the exam and in this simulator is Python.

Watch first: John Savill’s AI-901 study cram
#

John Savill is a colleague here at Microsoft and one of the most generous contributors to the Azure community. His study crams have helped a generation of candidates prepare for Microsoft certifications, and his AI-901 cram covers the entire exam in just over an hour, pairing whiteboard explanations with live demos in the Foundry portal. Watch it once at the start to see the whole landscape, and again the week before your exam.

The video guide breaks the cram into study sections with the key points of each, mapped to the exam objectives. Every timestamp jumps the player straight to that part.

The two domains

Weightings are official. Implement AI solutions by using Microsoft Foundry is the heavier domain at 55–60%, so hands-on time in the Foundry portal and with the Foundry SDK pays off directly.

A study plan that works
#

  1. Read the study guide. It is short, and it defines exactly what the exam measures.
  2. Watch John Savill’s study cram to see the whole exam in one sitting.
  3. Work through the official training listed on the domain pages. Domain 1 builds the concepts; Domain 2 puts them to work in Microsoft Foundry.
  4. Do the hands-on exercises. The Domain 2 exercises are where the Foundry portal and SDK questions stop being abstract.
  5. Practice one domain at a time in the exam simulator in Practice mode, and read the explanation for every miss.
  6. Take a full timed run in Exam mode with the 45-minute timer, then the official practice assessment. When you pass both comfortably, book the exam.
